Employee Volunteering

Our Employees Donate Their Most Precious Resource - Their Time.

From supporting company-sponsored events and serving as mentors to coaching and helping at homeless shelters, our employees are out front in the community. Through our "Energy For The Community" employee volunteer network, PECO employees develop leadership and teamwork skills, and put a personal face on our corporate citizenship activities. The program engages employees from all parts of the company, and recognizes and celebrates the importance of their efforts in building relationships with customers and communities.

More than 150 employees lend their time and professional expertise as board members of local nonprofit organizations. PECO employees are represented on many nonprofit boards throughout the Philadelphia area, including The African American Museum in Philadelphia, Art Sanctuary, Pathways, The Franklin Institute and the Philadelphia Zoo.

Our legal team continues to exhibit its commitment to the community by providing over 1,500 hours of pro bono legal services and more than 1,000 hours of community service last year.  Pro bono activities included support for obtaining birth certificates for the homeless, preparing living wills and medical powers of attorney for senior citizens in the Latino community, and participating in the Wills for Heroes program.

PECO kicks off the first day of summer delivering 600 fans to senior centers throughout the company's service territory.  This annual tradition allowed PECO to help senior citizens, who are the most susceptible to warm weather-related emergencies.

In April, hundreds of employees celebrate National Volunteer Week by hosting more than 40 community projects throughout PECO's service territory.  Employees plant trees, work at local food banks, and support events helping children in need.

Employees, family members and friends turned out on Mother's Day to participate in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. The annual event helps raise funds for breast cancer research and strives to raise awareness and make a difference in the fight against breast cancer.

And we get together at the beginning of every year to celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service by volunteering in the Philadelphia area.
