ENVIRONMENT
- Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education’s Henry Meigs Environmental Leadership Award 2006 - Presented to PECO for its efforts towards sustainable energy and clean environmental practices.
- U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the Center for Resource Solutions (CRS) Green Power Supplier Award 2005 - Honored PECO and partner Community Energy for success in marketing and encouraging participation in green power programs, in particular, PECO WIND.
- National Arbor Day Foundation® Tree Line USA Award 2005 - Awarded for environmentally responsible tree care, worker training, tree planting and public education programs.
- Citizens for Pennsylvania’s Future’s New Green Product Award 2004 - Recognized for marketing a premium wind energy product that has become one of the fastest growing and largest alternative energy offerings to residential consumers nationwide.
- Upper Merion Township Earth Day Award 2004 - Awarded for successful remediation of a formerly contaminated site.
SAFETY
- Energy Association of Pennsylvania Outstanding Motor Vehicle Fleet Safety Award - Awarded for exceptional reduction in motor vehicle accidents for calendar year 2007, as compared to calendar year 2006, as determined by the EAPA Accident Prevention Committee.
- American Gas Association Award for the lowest "DART" (days away, restricted, or transferred) incident rate in the category of medium-size members for local distribution companies.
- Energy Association of Pennsylvania’s Job Safety Award 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005 - Honored as the safest utility in Pennsylvania.
- Energy Association of Pennsylvania Safety Achievement Award 2003, 2004, 2008 - Recognizes the lowest worker injury incidence rate of any of the 12 electric and natural gas utilities in the Pennsylvania during 2004.
- Energy Association of Pennsylvania’s Most Improved Safety Performance 2001 and 2002 - Honored as most improved Pennsylvania utility in the area of safety performance.
- Governor Rendell’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities for “Outstanding Employer Leadership” 2005 - Honored for leadership in recruiting, employing and promoting people with disabilities.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
- Site Selection magazine Top Ten Utility 2005 - For the sixth consecutive year, PECO was named one of the top ten utility companies for promoting economic development.
- Innovation Award from the Monte Jade Science & Technology Association of Mid-Atlantic - Awarded to PECO’s Economic Development team for “promoting industry and technology in the Philadelphia region."
- Northeast Economic Developers Association 2005 - PECO Economic Development received three awards for its Communique newsletter by the Northeast Economic Developers Association.
