PECO’s May 14, 1998 settlement balanced the interests of all and promoted the creation of a competitive electric market for customers. The plan allowed all customers to choose among competing power suppliers, beginning Jan. 1, 2000. The plan provided “unbundled” retail electric service licensed electric suppliers to compete to sell power to customers. Regardless of the supplier, PECO delivers power to customers, maintains the local electric infrastructure and responds to emergencies.
