PHILADELPHIA (February 13, 2010, 5 a.m.) – Twelve to 16 hours shifts continue for PECO crews working to restore power to the final 3,000 customers affected by Wednesday’s historic snow storm. A focused effort is expected to result in restoration of service to all remaining customers by midnight tonight.
As of 5 a.m. the county breakdown of power outages is as follows:
Bucks: 1,200
Chester: 100
Delaware: 600
Montgomery: 900
Philadelphia: 200
More than 1,200 personnel, made up of PECO crews and utility crews from as far away as Illinois and Michigan continue to repair tree and equipment damage and restore power across the region. Service has been restored to more than 210,000 customers since the beginning of the storm.
While steady progress is being made, job conditions continue to slow restoration efforts. Because of the widespread damage, as larger jobs are completed sometimes individual customers – in the same neighborhood – can remain without power. As these situations occur, the company is working directly with customers to make sure they are fully aware of the situation and when they can expect their service to be restored.
We understand that our customers are inconvenienced whenever they are without service, and we appreciate their assistance and patience as we repair damage and safely restore everyone’s service.
