Our business is energy – the energy that lights our communities, the energy that heats homes, and the energy that sparks meaningful progress throughout those communities. That’s why we celebrate diversity, equity, and inclusion, and make it an authentic part of everything we do.
At PECO, Diversity Empowers Us
Whether you’re an employee, a customer, or a neighbor, you’ll feel welcomed, valued, respected, and heard here. That’s the true power of positive energy.
Together, we are PECO.
Our commitment to diversity, equality, and inclusion begins with us – with our leadership team that strives every day to advance issues that are important to our vibrant mix of employees, and with our employees, who embrace growth opportunities to bring their powerful contributions to everything we do.
In our diverse communities, we provide not simply funding, but also volunteer efforts and other support to be there when our neighbors need us the most.
Whether it’s keeping your gas flowing and your lights shining, or making the world a brighter, more diverse and inclusive place, PECO is by your side.
Workforce development is how we power and transform communities that need us the most. From investing in educational and training opportunities to facilitating end-to-end job placement workshops, we’re helping deliver a healthier and more equitable economy.
PECO works hard to be a beacon in our community – literally, through the iconic, 38-foot-tall Crown Lights that share messages about everything from energy efficiency to community events in the Philadelphia region, and also through our daily investments of time and talent to partner with community leaders and uplift our neighborhoods by meeting the diverse needs of our customers. Through Exelon’s Diverse Business Empowerment process, PECO ensures maximum opportunities for diverse suppliers to do business with us.
Exelon’s Racial Equity Capital Fund is expanding access to capital for minority businesses to create jobs, grow their companies, and reinvest in their communities.
Serving more than two million customers goes far beyond providing world-class energy services and experiences. We’re also proud to be a leading economic and community partner across the Greater Philadelphia region, with a diverse workforce that both reflects and respects the customers and communities we serve.
From contributions and sponsorships to in-kind donations, we cultivate partnerships that help us further enrich the quality of life. It’s the right thing to do for our company, our employees, our customers, and our communities – the places where we live and work, too.
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion is powered by our employees—their passion and pride, their readiness to stand together, and their desire to create change. Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are where they can put those strengths to work.
These employee-run groups give employees an outlet to share experiences, receive support from colleagues, and move us all forward in ensuring a diverse and inclusive culture.
In close alignment with Exelon’s Racial Equity Task Force, PECO established the Racial Equity Initiative. Over the last two years, a diverse team of PECO leaders has leveraged its platforms to enact change and conduct a comprehensive assessment of racial equity across our organization.
As communities of color continue to experience racial and social injustices every day, PECO’s Racial Equity team is encouraging employees of all backgrounds to become involved in the work necessary to promote change.
The tragic deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and many others illuminated the need for a renewed focus on systemic racism and racial inequities in our society. Coupled with the disproportionate impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in diverse communities, it was clear the time had come for meaningful action to support our employees, customers, and the communities we serve.
A diverse team of PECO leaders leveraged their influence and platforms to enact change and conduct a comprehensive assessment of racial equity across our organization — for the first time ever. Concurrently with Exelon's Racial Equity Task Force, PECO established the Racial Equity Initiative with a goal to build an environment that promotes and encourages efforts, actions, and behaviors to advance principles of racial equity.
Initially designed to address inequities faced by African Americans, the group grew to address the disparities felt by all minorities. The team identified workstreams to focus on specific areas to make positive, intentional, demonstrable, and sustainable change at PECO and in the diverse communities we serve.
Through the workstreams’ efforts, PECO reaffirms its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace and in the region, works to solve issues related to injustice in our communities, and seeks opportunities to make meaningful change to be part of the solution.
