PECO Multicultural Series at Penn’s Landing
Since 1995, PECO has been proud to celebrate Philadelphia’s diverse ethnic heritage by sponsoring the PECO Multicultural Festival. From June through September, the Multicultural Series offers a variety of culturally rich events with a chance to explore the world without actually traveling. All events are free and take place on the Great Plaza.
One Book One Philadelphia
One Book, One Philadelphia is a reading initiative in which PECO partners with the Free Library of Philadelphia and the City of Philadelphia. The mission of the program is to promote reading, literacy, diversity, public dialogue, library usage, and community-building throughout the Greater Philadelphia region...by focusing annually on a diverse work(s) of literature.
The history of our country comes to life through a new experience offered by Historic Philadelphia, the organization that oversees the PECO-sponsored Lights of Liberty program. Unveiled in September of 2010, the revised Lights of Liberty experience features a groundbreaking new attraction, Liberty 360, a 360-degree 3-D look at our country's struggle for independence. This presentation is presented in the new PECO Theater at The Historic Philadelphia Center.
PECO is a proud sponsor of the Philadelphia Fringe Festival, an annual 15-day festival that provides a unique venue for local and international performing artists to present exciting new work in dance, theater, music, comedy, puppetry, poetry and visual arts. The festival is focused on a young and diverse demographic.
The Annual Celebration of Black Writing and Literary Achievement Awards Ceremony is the only literary festival of its kind. PECO’s support helps with the development of radio broadcasts, school matinees, inner-city school author programs, free writing workshops/panels, and an outdoor festival, which includes a family Pavilion and a book fair.
PECO serves as title sponsor of Scribe Video Center’s StreetMovies!, an annual & free multicultural film- screening series for audiences of all ages that tours neighborhoods around the Philadelphia region, bringing program of independent film from around the world to local parks, lots, playgrounds, and community spaces.
