Greening our buildings

Work is underway to secure Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certifications for 10 of PECO’s largest buildings across the region. In 2009 PECO completed construction of its first ‘green’ building in West Chester, Chester County. With the completion of energy efficiency measures at several locations, PECO has earned LEED-Existing Building Gold Certification at its Warminster Service Building and LEED-Existing Building Silver Certification at its Phoenixville Service Building and at the Berwyn Campus. PECO’s Berwyn Campus is one of only five LEED Existing Building Campus’ in the United States and all sites were the first LEED certified existing buildings in their counties.

In 2010, PECO completed energy efficiency improvements at Baldwin, Christian St., G & Luzerne and Plymouth Service Building sites in support of obtaining LEED-Existing Building Operations and Maintenance certification by 2012. In addition, PECO also will complete lighting and HVAC upgrades at the Main Office Building by 2012.
