PHILADELPHIA (November 10, 2014) – Steven Singh, director of Regional Electric Operations, PECO, has been honored with the Junipero Serra Award at the 2014 Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) Conference on November 7, 2014, in Detroit, MI.
The annual SHPE Technical Achievement Recognition (STAR) Awards recognize individuals and corporations for their dedication, commitment and selfless efforts to support the growth and advancement of Hispanics through science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) careers. The Junipero Serra award is presented to an individual who has provided unique and outstanding contributions in the fields of engineering and science, including management, administration and education.
Singh is a 14-year veteran of the electric and natural gas industry and has held numerous positions while at PECO. In his current role, he oversees regional electric distribution operations for 500,000 customers in Bucks and Montgomery counties. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Singh is also active in his community and serves on the Board of Directors for Cradles to Crayons, an organization that provides essentials to homeless and low-income children in the Philadelphia area.

The annual SHPE Conference is the largest annual Hispanic STEM conference, bringing together more than 6,000 professionals, educators, students and corporations from throughout the U.S. for technical and professional development opportunities.
