PECO Employees Receive Modern Day Technology Leadership Award at 2015 Black Engineer of the Year Awards STEM Conference

PHILADELPHIA (February 11, 2015) – Derrick Dickens, PECO director of AMI Strategy, and Jasmine Jackson, PECO senior contract coordinator, were honored with the Modern Day Technology Leadership Award at the 2015 Black Engineer of the Year Awards (BEYA) science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) Conference held on February 6, 2015, in Washington, D.C.

This annual conference honors those who demonstrate outstanding performance. The award is presented to those who are shaping the future of STEM industries.

Derrick Dickens has 25 years of diverse leadership experience in the utility, defense, telecommunications and nonprofit industries. During the last 10 years, Dickens has managed various projects within a variety of organizations at PECO, including engineering, technical services, field operations, support services and advanced metering technology. Dickens also serves on the Legacy Youth Tennis and Education board of directors and as an advisor for the PECO Explorers Post, which provides local students with mentoring and support.

Jasmine Jackson has served in numerous roles during her six years at PECO in engineering, large account services and distribution system operations. She is active in PECO’s Big Brothers Big Sisters Program and the Philadelphia READS program and also serves as an advisor for the PECO Explorers Post.

The BEYA STEM Conference brings together students, college administrators, recruiters, engineering and IT professionals, scientists and high-level decision-makers from the corporate, government and military communities in an effort to broaden diversity in this country's technical and scientific work forces.
