The company was also named a Best Employer for Women in 2018
PHILADELPHIA (January 15, 2019) – Today, Forbes Magazine recognized PECO on their 2019 list of Best Employers for Diversity in the US. PECO was joined on the list by their parent company, Exelon. Late last year, PECO was also included on Forbes' inaugural list of Best Employers for Women.
Forbes partnered with market research company Statista to anonymously survey 50,000 Americans on topics of age, gender equality, ethnicity, disability, LGBTQ+ and general diversity concerning their own employer and others. The final list ranks the top 500 US employers with over 1,000 employees that received the most recommendations from respondents, had the most gender diverse boards and executive ranks and had the most diversity support resources available to employees.
Since 2012, the number of women employed at PECO has risen by 15 percent. The utility actively fosters a diverse and inclusive culture across all levels of the company, as evidenced by the fact that half of PECO's vice presidents are currently women. Beyond PECO's leadership, the company also sites its active Employee Resource Groups and strong support for employee engagement in the community as factors promoting a diverse and inclusive workforce.
"We're honored to be recognized as a company where all employees feel welcomed, included and valued for who they are and what they have to contribute," says PECO president and CEO, Mike Innocenzo. "Creating a diverse and inclusive workplace is a commitment across all of Exelon, and we're thrilled to share this honor with our parent company."
PECO celebrated the recognition with a special message on the headquarters' Crown Lights.
