Thoughtful programs support local energy assistance and put a twist on holiday gift giving
PHILADELPHIA (November 19, 2018) – This holiday season, PECO hopes to bring out the spirit of giving in local communities through its Gift of Energy and Matching Energy Assistance Fund programs. Whether you would like to help someone in need or give energy directly to a neighbor, friend, or relative, these programs have you covered.
Gift of Energy
The PECO Gift of Energy program provides customers an out-of-the-box way of beating the Black Friday lines and the stress that comes with holiday shopping by giving that friend or family member a credit for their energy bill – all from the comfort of your home, couch, or personal winter wonderland. All that is needed is the customer's name and address or phone number associated with the account. The giver will receive a payment confirmation, and a certificate of payment that can be given to that certain friend or loved one – or PECO can send it to the recipient on the giver's behalf. The gift will appear on the recipient's future energy bill as a credit. Gifts can be initiated at PECO's in-person payment locations, by phone at 1-800-597-9514 or online.
Matching Energy Assistance Fund
Through PECO's Matching Energy Assistance Fund, customers can donate to provide energy bill payment assistance to customers in need who have faced unexpected hardship and are struggling to cover basic living costs. Donations are made to PECO and disbursed to local non-profit agencies throughout PECO's service territory. Every donation is matched by PECO dollar-for-dollar, and PECO pays for the total administration of the program. Matching Energy Assistance Fund grants are given to low-income customers who find themselves in a hardship situation, often at risk of service termination. Partnering with local non-profits, PECO has donated over $250,000 per year toward the effort since 1995.
