PECO Sending Crews to Support Power Restoration Efforts in Illinois in Advance of Severe Winter Storm

PHILADELPHIA (January 10, 2020) – PECO employees are headed to northern Illinois to provide support to its sister utility, ComEd, in advance of a severe winter storm that is forecasted to bring snow, ice, and high winds to the region. PECO is sending approximately 30 lineworkers and additional support personnel, as well as 30 contractors to assist in power restoration efforts.

"Having endured storms like Winter Storms Riley and Quinn, and Ice Storm Nika, we know firsthand how crucial assistance from other utilities can be in safely restoring service to customers when a severe storm hits," said John McDonald, PECO senior vice president and COO. "We are so proud of our employees who are answering this call for help."

Over the years, PECO has sent hundreds of crews and support personnel to assist utilities, in our region and across the country, as part of regional mutual assistance networks. Just as PECO provides support, crews from throughout the U.S. and Canada have helped with restoration efforts in southeastern Pennsylvania following severe storms.

PECO greatly appreciates the dedication and skill of our employees and contractors who answer the call to assist others in times of need. We are focused on their safety as they work to restore the energy services that are critical to customers' daily lives.
