PECO's award-winning efforts to help customers save energy and money recognized for the sixth time by EPA
PHILADELPHIA (April 17, 2019) – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has presented PECO with its famed ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award. The award recognizes the success of PECO Smart Ideas, the company's highly successful suite of energy efficiency programs to help customers save energy and money. PECO, along with sister Exelon utilities BGE in Baltimore, ComEd in Chicago, Delmarva Power in Wilmington, Del. and Pepco in Washington D.C., were honored for their long-term commitment to energy efficiency at the EPA awards ceremony held in Washington, D.C.
"Being recognized once again by the EPA with their Sustained Excellence Award for our efforts to save customers energy and money truly is an honor," said Mike Innocenzo, PECO president and CEO. "It's really a testament to the ongoing success of PECO Smart Ideas and to the commitment our customers have to improving energy efficiency in their homes and businesses."
This is the third year PECO has received the Sustained Excellence designation. This award is reserved for those who have received the ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year award more than three times and exhibited exceptional leadership year after year in the ENERGY STAR program while remaining dedicated to environmental protection through superior energy efficiency.
Since the inception of PECO Smart Ideas in 2009, PECO has received eleven awards in total and now receives its sixth Partner of the Year Award in Energy Efficiency Program Delivery for its continued leadership in protecting the environment through energy efficiency efforts.
PECO Smart Ideas offers programs to help residential, business, government, nonprofit and institutional customers save energy and money. Since 2009, PECO customers have saved more than $730 million through energy efficiency and PECO Smart Ideas rebates, and reduced their electricity use by more than 3.5 million megawatt hours.
