PHILADELPHIA, PA (November 16, 2022) — With the holiday season approaching, PECO is reminding customers to stay alert for potential payment scams targeting utility customers. Scammers are using the holiday season to trick utility customers into providing their personal or financial information and making false payments under the pretense of keeping their service active.
Utility Scam Awareness Day is Wednesday, November 16 and PECO is urging customers to be on the lookout for impersonators seeking to steal money and personal information. Scammers posing as PECO employees, or an affiliate will call customers from a number that appears to be from PECO and threaten to turn off service unless payment is made.
