PHILADELPHIA (May 5, 2022) – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced PECO as a recipient of the ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Sustained Excellence Award for the seventh time for outstanding leadership in reducing customer energy bills and tackling climate change. This is the eleventh time overall that PECO has been honored with an ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Award.
Since the inception of PECO's Energy Efficiency and Conservation program in 2009, PECO's residential and commercial customers have reduced energy consumption by 4.6 billion kWh – enough electricity to power 530,000 homes for a full year. PECO programs have also granted more than $367 million to customers in the form of rebates and incentives.
"Being recognized once again by the EPA with their Sustained Excellence Award for our efforts to save customers energy and money truly is an honor," said Mike Innocenzo, PECO president and CEO. "We're committed to playing a leading role in the Greater Philadelphia region's transition to a clean energy future."This award affirms PECO's work in helping to reduce energy usage and mitigate climate change while helping to lower customer bills.
The Sustained Excellence award is the highest honor bestowed by the ENERGY STAR program. Winners are part of a distinguished group that has made a long-term commitment to fighting climate change and protecting public health through energy efficiency.
"ENERGY STAR award-winning partners are showing the world that delivering real climate solutions makes good business sense and promotes job growth," said EPA Administrator Michael S. Regan. "Many of them have been doing it for years, inspiring all of us who are committed to tackling the climate crisis and leading the way to a clean energy economy."
Winners are selected from a network of thousands of ENERGY STAR partners. For a complete list of winners and more information about ENERGY STAR's awards program, visit ENERGYSTAR Winners.
