PECO sells Surplus Tier I AECs
Pursuant to Order of the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (Docket P-2010-2210975, entered February 14, 2011), PECO reports the results of its most recent sales of surplus AECs.
On June 7, 2012, PECO sold 100,000 Pennsylvania Tier 1 non-solar AECs (vintage January 1, 2010 through April 30, 2010) for an average price of $2.15 per AEC.
On June 27, 2012, PECO sold 154,528 Pennsylvania Tier 1 non-solar AECs (vintage January 1, 2010 through May 31, 2010) for an average price of $2.05 per AEC.
On February 6, 2013, PECO sold 100,000 Pennsylvania Tier 1 non-solar AECs (vintage December 1, 2010 through April 30, 2011) for an average price of $3.65 per AEC.
On April 3, 2013, PECO sold 100,000 Pennsylvania Tier 1 non-solar AECs (vintage December 1, 2010 through May 31, 2011) for an average price of $4.45 per AEC.
On June 5, 2013, PECO sold 30,000 Pennsylvania Tier 1 non-solar AECs (vintage February 1, 2011 through May 31, 2011) for an average price of $6.75 per AEC.
PECO procures AECs in two ways
Full requirements default service procurements
Winning bidders will provide PECO with AECs required for the portions of PECO’s default service load that they serve.

PECO will occasionally conduct separate procurements based upon procedures outlined in specific procurement plans approved by the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC).

Register as an AEC supplier for Pennsylvania
Green energy suppliers interested in supplying AECs to PECO MUST register their alternative energy facilities with Pennsylvania’s AEPS Program Administrator and subsequently qualify as a Pennsylvania alternative energy resource.

Results from PECO Purchase Tier II AECs via an Independent Broker
Pursuant to PUC Order re:Petition of PECO Energy Company Approval to Procure Tier II Alternative Energy Credits Through Independent Brokers, Docket P- P-2014-2408725 (Order entered April 23, 2014), PECO is reporting the results of its most recent purchase of Tier II AECs.
On July 16, 2014, PECO purchased 155,000 Pennsylvania Tier II AECs (vintage December 1, 2012 through March 31, 2013) at an average price of $0.05 per AEC.
