Community Development

From supporting and protecting what makes our neighborhoods unique to helping each one to thrive, PECO powers community development.

CHINATOWN DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION

PECO is a proud supporter of the Philadelphia Chinatown Development Corporation (PCDC). PCDC is a grassroots, non-profit, community-based organization that seeks to preserve, protect and promote Philadelphia's Chinatown community. We support their mission to foster a neighborhood and local treasure that people will want to visit, live and work in. Plus, every year, we speak at PCDC workshops and help teach members of our Chinatown community how to save energy and money.

CRADLES TO CRAYONS

PECO believes in giving back. That's why we partnered with Cradles to Crayons to sponsor the Big Give. The Big Give is a multi-communitywide collection day that benefits low income and homeless children across the Greater Philadelphia region. Collections help provide essential items children need to thrive at home, at school, and at play. We invite you get involved during this year's Big Give, and to drop off donations at two of our community partners, The Elmwood Park Zoo and the Bucks County Children's Museum or one of the other drop off sites throughout the region.

TALLER PUERTORRIQUENO

PECO is a long-time supporter of Taller, a community-based organization dedicated to preserving, developing and promoting Latino arts and culture. Taller believes that embracing cultural heritage is central to community empowerment, and we couldn't agree more. That's why PECO has helped Taller with a number of special exhibitions and programs, like Afro-Latinos in Philadelphia: Stories from El Barrio and Unpacking Hispañola, which featured the works of Dominican-American artists Scherezade Garcia and Firelei Baez.

RED CROSS

Fires can cause great damage in our community. That's why PECO Vice President of Electric Operations, Eric Helt, presented the Red Cross with a grant to support their "No More Fire Death's" campaign. This grant helps provide care for those impacted by significant events. In addition, a team of PECO employee volunteers helped install 500 smoke alarms in West Philadelphia. Since the campaign launched, the Red Cross has installed more than 8,000 smoke alarms in high-risk neighborhoods.
