The company's volunteer program is an expression of its commitment to corporate citizenship. Employees develop leadership and teamwork skills and put a personal face on PECO's civic involvement.
Employee volunteerism in 2022 was reflected through a variety of activities, from outdoor park cleanups to company-wide virtual drives and fundraisers, to more focused remote team-building activities and even personal commitments, like virtual academic tutoring, coaching, mentoring, speaking on career panels, and making cards for the community. In 2022, PECO employees logged approximately 20,000 hours of volunteer service.
Over 100 executives and employees lend their time and professional expertise by serving on the boards of nonprofit organizations. PECO employees are serving on 185 different boards. This provides a rich opportunity for the company to engage with dozens of organizations on a significant level, adding to the partnership's reach, growth, and engagement. PECO leadership is represented on several other nonprofit boards throughout the Delaware Valley including, but not limited to the Franklin Institute; Boys and Girls Clubs of Philadelphia; Mann Music Center; and Big Brothers Big Sisters Independence Region.
