From helping to create a natural home for primates at the Philadelphia Zoo to ensuring our green spaces remain that way, PECO powers the environment in our local community.
Open space is crucial for the quality of life in our community. That's why PECO was proud to partner with Natural Lands to create the PECO Green Region Open Space Program. The program awards grants for efforts to preserve, protect and improve open space in southeastern Pennsylvania. In 2016 alone, PECO provided twenty grants in Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and York counties. And we have awarded nearly $1.7 million to 230 projects since the program’s inception in 2004.

PECO has been a proud partner of the Philadelphia Zoo since 1999, when we joined forces to create the reimagined PECO Primate Reserve. The PECO Primate Reserve shares the story of primates from around the world, and helps spread the important message of how energy efficiency protects wildlife. PECO continues to empower visitors to reduce, reuse, recycle and rethink energy and nature conservation.
