Ten tips for kids to remember

We all know electricity is very powerful. To make sure that we always use it safely, there are important tips to keep in mind.

1

Outlets
Don't ever stick anything but an electrical plug into an electrical outlet.

2

Unplugging
To unplug a toaster, a lamp, or anything else, pull on the plug, never the cord.

3

Electrical Cords
Never touch electrical cords that are broken or have wire showing.

4

Light Sockets
Never stick your fingers or anything else into light sockets.

5

Appliances
Don't pry your toast out of a toaster with a knife or fork. Keep fingers out of appliances.

6

Keep Dry
Never touch anything electrical if you're wet or standing in water.

7

Play Safe
Never fly kites, model airplanes or balloons near powerlines.

8

No Climbing
Don't climb power poles or trees near powerlines.

9

Fallen Lines
If you see a fallen powerline, STAY AWAY.
