A transmission system is made up of a set of high-voltage wires that run on large towers along utility right-of-ways. They form an interconnected grid that brings electricity from power plants to local substations.
PECO’s specially designed programs ensure that electric continues flowing on approximately 1,067 miles of transmission lines.
Our distribution system is made up of many components, including lines or conductors, poles, transformers, substations, switches, circuit breakers and fuses. Local electric lines move electricity from substations and deliver it to the homes and businesses we serve.
PECO works hard to minimize outages through constant system monitoring, regular maintenance and system upgrades. These programs help maintain safe, reliable service along our 21,822 miles of electric distribution lines.
