A smart grid is an electric system enhanced with innovative digital technologies like smart substations, smart switches, and meters that detect problems on the electric system so you experience improved reliability, better service and greater control over your energy use.
In the same way that today's "smart phone" technology merged the power of computers with cellular phones, smart grid technology merges the power of computers with the electric grid.
At PECO, we are delivering innovation and advancing smart energy to efficiently deliver safe, reliable, affordable and clean energy and energy services for our customers. As part of this effort, we are developing new programs and initiatives that will transform the energy experience for all customers. Smart grid and meter technology provide the base for new energy efficiency solutions, enhanced service reliability and customized energy options for our customers.
We continue to modernize the energy delivery system, installing advanced equipment to identify and correct problems before outages occur or, if an outage does occur, reroute power to restore service faster.
We also continue to implement industry-leading applications of voltage management and remote outage detection, and support innovative customer advanced energy management projects.
